How we approach it
Map what already exists
Which system is the authority for each piece of information, and what happens today when they disagree. Connecting two systems without settling that just spreads the disagreement faster.
Assume the other side will fail
Somebody else's service will be down, slow or will change without warning. Work that matters is built to retry, to queue, and to tell somebody, rather than to lose the record quietly.
Prove it with real data
Tested against the awkward cases rather than the clean one: the refund, the partial payment, the customer with no company number. Those are the cases that reach you at the worst moment.
